Delete your account
You can delete your account and its data at any time. You don't need the app installed to ask us to do it.
In the app
- Open Circle and go to Settings.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm.
What the app tells you before you confirm: this cannot be undone. Your profile, messages, connections and reports are deleted, and any event you host is removed for everyone attending.
Without the app
Email support@thecircleapp.us from the address on your account. We'll check it's you before we act, and we'll confirm once it's done.
Leaving for a while, not for good? Settings also has Deactivate account. Your profile is hidden from other people and you are logged out. Your messages and connections are kept. Events you host stay live. Log back in any time to reactivate.
What deletion removes
- Your profile and your sign-in credentials
- Your conversations and the messages in them
- Events you host, and your attendance on events other people host
- Circles you own, and your place in circles other people own
- Your connections, followers, and anything still pending
- Your saved places, their radius settings, and your interest tags
- Reports you filed, and reports filed about you
- Your notification tokens and your signed-in sessions
What may remain
- Photos and other files you uploaded sit in separate file storage, and deleting in the app doesn't remove them today. Email support@thecircleapp.us and we'll take them out.
- A message you sent that someone has already received stays in their copy of the conversation.
- Anything we're required to keep, to resolve a dispute or to meet a legal obligation, for as long as that lasts and no longer.
- Backups roll off on their own schedule. Nothing is restored from them.
Deletion is permanent. There's no way to bring back an account, its messages, or its events once it's gone.
